Vipp

The limited edition Purple Cut range from Vipp

Denmark is renowned for giving us some the 20th century’s most prolific designers – Arne Jacobsen, Vener Panton, Georg Jensen, Nanna Ditzel… to name a few. All are known for their modern classic pieces, however there is one name that is less familiar, Holger Nielsen – the designer behind the Vipp bin.

Designed in 1939, Vipp bins were sold exclusively to the professional market until 1992 when Neilsen’s youngest daughter, Jette Egelund, took over the company and brought the design to a wider audience.

Made from steel, the design has changed little since the first model Neilsen produced for his wife’s hairdressing salon. However the range of sizes has expanded and a coordinating toilet brush holder has been added to the collection. All are now available in this year’s limited edition colour: Purple Cut, with bin capacities ranging from 4 litres to 30 litres.
